Grammy winner Brandy Norwood has been playing merry murderess Roxie Hart in Chicago all summer, so she had it coming—a portrait by Broadway.com Resident Artist Justin “Squigs” Robertson. After catching the hit musical on the Great White Way, Squigs sketched the singer and actress making her Broadway debut as the wannabe vaudeville star who is sent to jail for killing her lover. Brandy, who is currently rouging her knees and pulling her stockings down at the Ambassador Theatre, will play Roxie though August 2, 2015 before Dancing with the Stars winner Rumer Willis steps into the spotlight. Until then, the name on everybody’s lips is gonna be Brandy!
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home.
